23 April
The green valley village of Potamia keeps St George's day (23 April, or Easter Monday when the 23rd falls in Lent) with a liturgy and then free food and wine, music and dancing in the square. A spring feast with the island still empty of tourists.
6–7 May · Koronos (Argokoili)
On the Friday of Bright Week (five days after Easter) the whole of Naxos climbs to Argokoili above Koronos, where the icon of the Virgin was found in 1836: the icon is carried down from the old church on Thursday evening and back up with a huge procession around 10:30 on Friday morning, with the Metropolitan, a vigil overnight and stalls selling food. Many walk up from Koronos; if you drive, park early on the road below because it fills for kilometres.
20–21 June
Filoti's early-summer feast at the church of Agia Triada, on Holy Spirit Monday: violins and laouta in the square, food and wine and dancing until the early hours. A quieter preview of what the village does on 15 August.
29–30 June
Melanes, the village of the kouroi near Chora, celebrates the Holy Apostles on the evening of 29 June with a panigiri in the square: local meat dishes, wine and violin-and-laouto dancing. One of the first big feasts of the Naxos summer and an easy 15-minute drive from town.
13–14 July · Naxos Chora
St Nikodimos the Hagiorite was born in Naxos town and is the island's patron: on the evening of 13 July there is a multi-bishop vespers at his church in Chora, on the 14th the liturgy, and in the evening the procession of his icon and relics through the streets of the town with the band and the authorities. Religious rather than a food panigiri, but the town is at its most festive.
16–17 July
Koronos, the emery-miners' village stacked up a ravine in the north-east, throws its big feast for Agia Marina on 16-17 July: revithada from the wood oven, rooster in wine sauce, local wine, and Koronos's own violin-and-laouto tradition until dawn. The road from Chora is 45 minutes of bends; park where the tarmac widens above the village and walk down the steps.
25–26 July
Kinidaros, the marble-quarry village famous for having the most tavernas per head on Naxos, feasts Agia Paraskevi on the evening of 25 July with grilled meat, wine and raki and violins in the square. The village also celebrates the Holy Cross on 14 September and Agios Nikolaos on 6 December in the same style.
5–6 August
The fortified Byzantine monastery of Fotodotis Christos above the tiny village of Danakos celebrates the Transfiguration on 6 August with the Metropolitan's liturgy and the blessing of the first grapes, and Danakos holds a small, warm panigiri with food and live music. Local listings also give Danakos a feast for Agios Panteleimon on 27 July, so ask which night the village is actually cooking. Glinado, Damarionas and Kourounochori keep Sotiros the same day.
14–16 August
Major panigiri across the inland villages, especially Filoti — three days of music, food and dancing. The biggest celebration on the island.
14–15 August
Apeiranthos, the marble-paved village with Cretan roots, does its own Dormition feast on 14-15 August with the village's celebrated violin players, kotsakia (improvised rhyming couplets), local wine and food in the square, competing with Filoti a few kilometres away. If you want a slightly smaller crowd and the best musicians, this is the one.
22–23 August · Tripodes (Vivlos)
Nine days after the Dormition, Tripodes (Vivlos), the windmill village above Plaka beach, holds the Enniamera feast with tables in the square, wine and live island music. It is the closest big village panigiri to the west-coast beaches and a good one if you are staying around Agios Prokopios or Plaka.
28–29 August
For the Beheading of St John on 29 August, Apeiranthos feasts on the evening of the 28th with traditional dishes such as paspalas and sourdough bread, wine, and violin music and dancing in the square. Apollonas and Agersani hold St John feasts the same night, and Apeiranthos celebrates St John the Theologian again on 26 September.

The Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Naxos gives away tonnes of the island's famous potatoes fried, boiled and baked on the harbour square in Chora, with big-name Greek singers on stage and dancing until late; 2026 was the 17th edition and its 100th anniversary. Free entry, several thousand people, so get to the square by 20:00 for a table.
25–26 September
The fishing village of Apollonas at the northern tip celebrates St John the Theologian twice, on 8 May and 26 September, with grilled meat and seafood, local wine, music and dancing by the harbour. The September one is the last panigiri of the Naxos season, with the tourists gone and the water still warm.
Dates are resolved for 2027: fixed saint's days as they fall, movable feasts computed from Orthodox Easter (2027: 2 May). Panigiria are usually held on the eve of the saint's day, and a village occasionally shifts one to the nearest weekend — where an entry says "confirm locally", the date comes from recent years' announcements rather than an official calendar.
