mid-May weekend · Poros Town
A new municipal running weekend (first edition 16-17 May 2026, 900 runners) with 10 km and 5 km races along the coast road and through the pines, plus children's distances; a 2027 edition is announced. Entry via the festival site; May sea is already swimmable.
7 May
The 1720 monastery in the pines on the east side of Poros, 4 km from town, celebrates on the Friday after Easter with a liturgy and an open feast in the grounds that draws a large crowd from Poros and Galatas. Take the bus or a taxi-boat; Easter week on Poros is mild, green and cheap.
23–24 June
On the night of 23 June the neighbourhoods of Poros town light St John's fires and jump them, with mezes, music and dancing in the lanes below the clock tower. Informal and free; the seafront is the place to see the fires from.
second half of July, 2 weeks · Poros / Galatas
The municipality's lemon fortnight (17-31 July in 2025) celebrates the Lemonodasos, the 30,000-tree lemon grove across the strait at Galatas: lemon sweets and liqueurs, tastings, concerts and walks in the grove. Cross by the two-minute water taxi from the Poros waterfront.
17-26 August, 10 days
A ten-day summer piano academy and festival in its 15th year (17-26 August 2026): masterclasses by day and free recitals and concerts in the evenings at venues around the town, including the Diana open-air cinema and the harbour. Free admission; the recitals start around 9 pm.

Four days at the end of August (27-30 August 2026, 30 Aug-1 Sep 2024) commemorating the 1828 Poros Conference where the borders of the new Greek state were drawn under Kapodistrias: lectures, Navy band concerts, theatre on the waterfront and a visiting Navy ship open to the public. Free; the concerts on the quay are the evening draw.
Dates are resolved for 2027: fixed saint's days as they fall, movable feasts computed from Orthodox Easter (2027: 2 May). Panigiria are usually held on the eve of the saint's day, and a village occasionally shifts one to the nearest weekend — where an entry says "confirm locally", the date comes from recent years' announcements rather than an official calendar.
