20–21 June
The port town's big feast: vespers at Agia Triada on Pentecost Sunday evening, a procession of the icon along the Adamas waterfront, then from about 21:30 an island glenti with live violin and lute, dancing by the local KAPI dance group and food on the church forecourt; liturgy follows on Whit Monday morning. It's a short walk from any hotel in Adamas, so no car needed — just arrive by 21:00 for a seat.
24 June
Folk Saint John's Eve tradition still alive on Milos: at sunset, unmarried girls collect water from a well in silence and predict their future husbands through tokens placed in it overnight. Bonfires are jumped on the 24th. Smaller and more intimate than the better-known Cretan version.
16–17 July
On the evening of 16 July the Triovasalos beautification society throws a free glenti in the courtyard of Agia Marina from 21:30, with live traditional musicians (violin, laouto, vocals) and dancing until late. The chapel of Agia Marina at Chalakas holds its own smaller feast the same evening straight after vespers, so locals often hop between the two. Park on the main Adamas–Plaka road and walk in; the village lanes fill up.
17–18 July
Angeria, the farming village on the road to Paliochori, celebrates its Agios Aimilianos with vespers at 20:00 on 17 July followed by a courtyard glenti with violin and laouto players from the island, and liturgy at 07:00 next morning. A canteen sells local food and drink, so come hungry; it's a low-key, mostly local affair — a good pick if you find the Adamas feasts too busy.
19–20 July
Milos has several hilltop Profitis Ilias chapels; the ones at Chalakas and Tramythia (and Komia) are the ones that actually celebrate, with vespers on the evening of 19 July and a small glenti with island musicians at Chalakas. It's a chapel feast rather than a village square party — bring a jumper for the breeze and a torch for the dirt track back to the car.
25–26 July
Pollonia's fishing-village feast: vespers at Agia Paraskevi on the evening of 25 July, then a free musical evening from about 21:30 with island music, organised by the Pollonia cultural and beautification society. Crowds are a mix of locals and visitors staying in the village; book a table at one of the harbour tavernas beforehand, because they fill up on the night.
26–27 July
The hamlet of Korfos, on the road to Emporios, hosts one of the liveliest late-July feasts on Milos: vespers at 20:30 on 26 July followed by a full-band glenti (violin, laouto, keyboards, drums) that runs into the small hours, with liturgy at 08:00 next morning. Parking is on the roadside verges; arrive before 21:00 or expect a walk.
15–16 August
Zefyria, the island's old capital, celebrates the Dormition at Panagia Portiani with vespers and bread-blessing at 20:00 on 14 August, liturgy at 07:30 on the 15th and the glenti itself on the evening of 15 August, with a band (violin, bouzouki, keyboards, laouto, vocals) and refreshments in the churchyard. Because the party is on the 15th rather than the eve, you can do Adamas on the 14th–15th and Zefyria the same night — the two are ten minutes apart by car.
15–16 August
The port's Dekapentavgoustos: vespers and bread-blessing at 20:00 on 14 August followed by a procession of the icon around the harbour, liturgy at 07:30 on the 15th, and from 21:30 on the 15th a traditional glenti with violins and laouto in the church courtyard. It is the busiest night of the year in Adamas — book dinner and accommodation well ahead, and expect the harbour road to be closed for the procession.
22–23 August
Komia celebrates the nine-day (Enniamera) of the Panagia at the chapel of Panagia Giatrissa — 'the Healer' — with vespers and a panigiri in the churchyard on the evening of 22 August. It is one of the island's older rural feasts and draws Milians from every village; the same evening the Panagia chapels at Kipos and Trypiti also celebrate, so ask locals which one has the band that year.
26–27 August
Agios Fanourios is celebrated at Plaka, Pollonia and Trypiti, but the party is in Plaka: after vespers on the evening of 26 August a panigiri with a DJ and a food canteen takes over the church forecourt. Fanouropites (the saint's oil-and-cinnamon cakes) are blessed and handed round. Plaka is car-free — park at the lots below the village and walk up.
7–8 September
Plaka's own feast, for the Nativity of the Virgin at the cliff-edge church of Panagia Korfiatissa: vespers on the evening of 7 September, then an island panigiri with live music in the central square of Plaka. Come early enough to watch the sunset from the church terrace first; the square is small and fills fast, and the whole village is on foot.
25–26 September
The last big feast of the Milos season, for Agios Ioannis Theologos 'Siderianos' at the old monastery in the wild south-west (Chalakas). The icon is brought over from the Korfiatissa church with honours, and the village and the church committee lay on a glenti with island musicians in the courtyard; the party is usually held on the Saturday nearest the feast (20 Sept 2025, 21 Sept 2024) with vespers on 25 September, so check milosvoice.gr for the exact night. Hundreds come, including Kimolians; the road in is unpaved for the last stretch.
Dates are resolved for 2027: fixed saint's days as they fall, movable feasts computed from Orthodox Easter (2027: 2 May). Panigiria are usually held on the eve of the saint's day, and a village occasionally shifts one to the nearest weekend — where an entry says "confirm locally", the date comes from recent years' announcements rather than an official calendar.
