Serifos is granite and light — a spectacular chora spilling down its rock, mining-era relics at Megalo Livadi, and the better beaches of the two (4.5): Psili Ammos, Agios Sostis, Vagia, many reachable only by dirt track and mostly empty. Facilities are deliberately thin. Sifnos is the polished one: Kastro's medieval lanes, Apollonia's evening buzz, pottery workshops, the Chrysopigi monastery on its wave-cut rock — and the cooking tradition of Tselementes, which still shows: revithada, mastelo, the best village tavernas in the western Cyclades (4.0 culture, food to match).
Choose Serifos for wildness, swimming, and a cheaper, quieter trip that feels twenty years back in time. Choose Sifnos for food, walking between pretty villages, and comfort with character. They're one ferry stop apart — the correct answer for a week is both.
