DAY 1

Skiathos Town & the East

15 km Β· 20 min πŸŒ™ Sleep: Skiathos Town
09:00

Skiathos Town

The most attractive town in the Sporades β€” two hills, a Venetian castle, pine-shaded lanes and a bustling harbour. Walk the Papadiamantis Street and have breakfast at the old port.

Skiathos Town
10:00

Bourtzi Fortress

Small Venetian fortress on a pine-wooded islet in the harbour mouth. Walk across the causeway for views over the town and the channel.

Bourtzi Fortress
11:00

Evangelistria Monastery

18th-century monastery in the pine forest above the town β€” the first Greek flag was raised here in 1807. Beautiful setting, small museum, excellent views.

Evangelistria Monastery
14:30

Koukounaries Beach πŸ– beach card Β· wind & conditions β†’

One of the finest beaches in Greece β€” 1.2km of golden sand framed by a dense pine forest and a protected lagoon behind it. Arrive by 14:00 for a sunbed. The lagoon behind is a protected wetland.

Koukounaries Beach
20:00

Dinner in Skiathos Town

Drive back along the south coast road from Koukounaries to Skiathos Town (about 25 minutes). The harbour at twilight is the social heart of the island β€” find a table at one of the seafront tavernas, or wander the narrow lanes above Bourtzi.

🍽 Dinner · Skiathos Town Marmita is the imaginative, well-priced gastronomic pick; Mesogia is the oldest taverna in town (100+ years) in the Plakes quarter; The Windmill sits in an 1880 windmill at the highest point for the view.
πŸŒ™ Evening Skiathos Town packs a real scene into a small grid. Start at Rock 'n' Roll Bar on the Old Port steps (cushions on the cobbles, sea in front), swing by Kentavros off Papadiamantis for blues and proper cocktails, then hit 'Bar Street' (Polytechniou) β€” Spartacus, Admiral Benbow and the rest β€” which runs late.
DAY 2

Beach Boat Tour

5 km Β· 10 min πŸŒ™ Sleep: Skiathos Town
09:30

Old Port β€” Boat Departure

Full-day boat tour around the island β€” the only way to reach the best beaches on the north coast. Boats depart from the old port daily in summer.

11:00

Lalaria Beach πŸ– beach card Β· wind & conditions β†’

The most dramatic beach in the Sporades β€” white oval pebbles under sheer white limestone cliffs with a natural rock arch. Accessible only by boat. Crystal clear water.

Lalaria Beach
12:30

Blue Cave (Skotini Spilia)

Sea cave on the north coast where the water glows blue from the sunlight refraction. Swim in from the boat.

Blue Cave (Skotini Spilia)
14:00

Kastro (Abandoned Town)

The abandoned medieval capital of Skiathos on a sea cliff β€” the entire population moved to the current town in 1829. Ruins of 300 houses and 22 churches. Boat stop with a short hike up.

Kastro (Abandoned Town)
18:30

Dinner in Skiathos Town

Boat returns to the Old Port in late afternoon (about 90 min from the Kastro side). Cocktails at one of the harbour bars are the natural end to a full day on the water β€” the seafront restaurants here are good for early dinners.

πŸŒ™ Evening Another town night, eased in with sunset drinks on the Old Port before Bar Street fills up. For a quieter one, the bars out toward the Bourtzi headland keep things mellow.
DAY 3

West Beaches & Departure

20 km Β· 25 min
09:30

Banana Beach πŸ– beach card Β· wind & conditions β†’

Two beaches side by side west of Koukounaries β€” Big Banana (organised, lively) and Little Banana (clothing-optional, quieter). Both have clear, shallow water.

Banana Beach
12:00

Agia Eleni Beach πŸ– beach card Β· wind & conditions β†’

Wild, sandy north-coast beach accessible via a path through pine forest. Far quieter than the south coast beaches, excellent water.

Agia Eleni Beach
16:00

Skiathos Town β€” Departure

Ferry to Volos, Thessaloniki or the other Sporades. The runway is right next to the town port β€” watch planes land metres overhead from the waterfront.

Planning questions

Is 3 days enough for Skiathos?

Yes, for a first visit. The plan covers the essentials at a pace that leaves time in the water. With one more day, add a slow beach day with no driving.

Do I need a car on Skiathos?

It helps for a day or two, but the core of this plan works with the bus, taxis and boats.

Where should I stay on Skiathos?

The plan sleeps in Skiathos Town.
