Sifnos in 3 Days
Apollonia's lanes, the hilltop monastery of Chrysopigi, the beaches of Platis Gialos and the pottery village of Artemonas.
Sifnos in 3 days, day by day: what to see, in what order, how far you drive and where you sleep. Base: Apollonia. It assumes a hire car from day one.
Apollonia & Artemonas
Apollonia
The capital β a beautiful hilltop town of white lanes, blue-domed churches and bougainvillea. Walk the main pedestrian street to Artemonas. The folk museum is excellent.

Artemonas
The most elegant village on Sifnos β Venetian mansions and the finest pottery on the island. Several workshops sell hand-thrown Sifniot ceramics in the traditional geometric patterns.

Kastro (Medieval Capital)
The medieval capital of Sifnos β a Venetian fortress-village on a sea cliff with extraordinary views. The houses form the outer wall. The Archaeological Museum inside is small but excellent.

Platis Gialos Beach π beach card Β· wind & conditions β
The best beach on the island β long, sandy, shallow and well-organised. The most popular beach on Sifnos but large enough to never feel overcrowded.

Chrysopigi & the South
Chrysopigi Monastery
The most beautiful monastery in the Cyclades β a 17th-century whitewashed complex on a tiny rocky peninsula connected by a causeway. The setting is extraordinary.

Apokofto Beach π beach card Β· wind & conditions β
Sandy beach directly below the Chrysopigi monastery β the monastery visible on the rocks above makes this one of the most picturesque beach settings in the Cyclades.

Faros Village
Traditional fishing village with three small coves and the best fish tavernas on the island. Lunch here β the grilled fish and local white wine are outstanding.

Vathy Beach π beach card Β· wind & conditions β
Remote sandy beach in a deep bay on the west coast β the most unspoiled beach on Sifnos, accessible by a long winding road. Beautiful and quiet.

Walking the Mule Paths
Kato Petali to Kastro Walk
The finest walk on Sifnos β the old mule path from Apollonia to Kastro through olive groves and Cycladic chapels. 45 minutes, flat and beautiful.
Kamares Beach
The port beach β long, sandy and sheltered in the harbour bay. Good facilities and a lively waterfront with cafes. The best beach for people-watching.
Apollonia β Departure
Ferry from Kamares port to Piraeus, Milos, Serifos or Paros.
Planning questions
Is 3 days enough for Sifnos?
Yes, for a first visit. The plan covers the essentials at a pace that leaves time in the water. With one more day, add a slow beach day with no driving.
Do I need a car on Sifnos?
Yes. The beaches and villages are spread out and the bus does not reach the ones that matter; book ahead for July and August.
Where should I stay on Sifnos?
The plan sleeps in Apollonia.
