Paxos in 2 days, day by day: what to see, in what order, how far you drive and where you sleep. Base: Gaios and Departure. It works without a car.

πŸ– Beaches on this plan: Mongonissi β€” each links to its card with the wind rule and today’s conditions. All 3, ranked β†’

DAY 1

Gaios & the East Coast

10 km Β· 25 min πŸŒ™ Sleep: Gaios
10:00

Gaios (port)

Main village on the east coast. Sheltered natural harbour formed by two offshore islets. Pastel Venetian-style buildings ring the quay.

Gaios (port)
11:30

Agios Nikolaos islet

Tiny islet at the mouth of Gaios harbour, crowned by Venetian fort ruins and a small chapel. The 5-minute rowboat crossing from the quay costs almost nothing; the views back at Gaios from the fort walls are the best on the island.

Agios Nikolaos islet
16:00

Mongonissi Beach πŸ– beach card Β· wind & conditions β†’

Sheltered sandy bay at the southern tip, 4 km from Gaios on a narrow road. The calmest swimming on Paxos β€” protected from wind on all sides β€” and a couple of small tavernas at the back of the beach for grilled octopus and a cold beer.

🍽 Lunch · Gaios Volcano is the seafood taverna on the Gaios main square, tables spilling toward the water.
🍽 Dinner · Gaios Taka Taka Mam is the tiny family-run spot with tables tucked into a lemon garden.
πŸŒ™ Evening Tiny Paxos is mellow lounge bars, not clubs. The Gaios waterfront is the scene β€” Old Harbor Bar for cocktails and meze over the water, Capriccio for something more polished. There's exactly one club, Diana, with the occasional band or DJ.
DAY 2

West Coast Cliffs & Antipaxos

25 km Β· 60 min πŸŒ™ Sleep: Departure
10:00

Lakka

Prettiest village on Paxos β€” tiny horseshoe harbour at the northern tip. Great for swimming right from the quay.

Lakka
11:30

Erimitis Cliffs

Dramatic white limestone cliffs on the west coast, dropping straight into deep blue water. Walk the well-marked cliff path from Lakka for the best vantages; the late-afternoon light turns the cliffs gold. Bring water and sturdy shoes.

13:30

Longos

Tiny fishing village halfway down the east coast β€” three tavernas, a soap factory turned ruin, a curve of pebble beach. Lunch at O Gios with views over the bay; ask for the fish soup if the boats came in the night before.

Longos
15:30

Antipaxos boat trip (Voutoumi)

Day boat from Gaios (15 min). Voutoumi and Vrika beaches have water so clear and blue you won't believe the photos.

Antipaxos boat trip (Voutoumi)
🍽 Lunch Β· Loggos The harbour tavernas at Loggos line a tiny, postcard bay β€” fresh fish and a slow lunch before the Antipaxos boat.

Planning questions

Is 2 days enough for Paxos?

Yes, for a first visit. The plan covers the essentials at a pace that leaves time in the water. With one more day, add a slow beach day with no driving.

Do I need a car on Paxos?

No. This plan works on foot, by boat and with the local bus.

Where should I stay on Paxos?

The plan sleeps in Gaios and Departure, so you are not crossing the island every morning.
