Small but excellent museum in a neoclassical mansion on the harbour β€” the story of Hydra's extraordinary role in the Greek War of Independence. The island provided more ships than any other.

Dinner in Hydra Town

Walk back along the coast path or take a water taxi (10 minutes). The harbour at twilight is the postcard image of Hydra β€” find a table at one of the seafront tavernas.

🍽 Lunch · Kamini Castello is a harbourfront taverna in the fishing hamlet of Kamini; Kodylenia's sits at the edge of the same harbour with a waterfront terrace.
🍽 Dinner Β· Hydra Town Gitoniko (Manolis & Christina) is the island institution β€” honest home cooking and a rooftop garden, worth seeking out through the lanes.
πŸŒ™ Evening No cars and no clubs β€” on Hydra the whole port becomes the party and you drift between bars. Start with a sundowner at Hydronetta, out on the cannons above the sea, then Pirate Bar for the institution and Amalour for candlelit cocktails and dancing to soul and funk.
