Arki in a Day
The one harbour village, the Tiganakia turquoise coves, and a boat to Marathi.
Arki in 1 day, day by day: what to see, in what order, how far you drive and where you sleep. Base: Port Augusta (Arki). It works without a car.
Harbour, Coves & Marathi
Port Augusta (Arki village)
The island's only village wraps around a deep natural harbour β three or four tavernas with rooms, a tiny church, a couple of shops. Boats from Patmos and Lipsi tie up right in front of the tables.
Tiganakia Coves π beach card Β· wind & conditions β
A cluster of tiny shallow coves on the south coast with astonishing turquoise water over pale sand β the island's signature swim. Reached on foot or by small boat; no facilities, so bring water and shade.
Marathi islet
A ten-minute boat hop to a near-uninhabited islet with a wide sweep of pale sand and two summer-only tavernas. One of the best beaches in the whole eastern Aegean, and almost always empty.
Planning questions
Is 1 day enough for Arki?
Yes, for a first visit. The plan covers the essentials at a pace that leaves time in the water. With one more day, add a slow beach day with no driving.
Do I need a car on Arki?
No. This plan works on foot, by boat and with the local bus.
Where should I stay on Arki?
The plan sleeps in Port Augusta (Arki).
