Antiparos in 2 Days
Chora and the cave on Day 1, Despotiko and the south-coast beaches on Day 2.
Antiparos in 2 days, day by day: what to see, in what order, how far you drive and where you sleep. Base: Antiparos Town.
Chora, the Castro & the Cave
Antiparos Port
Arrive on the small ferry from Pounta or Parikia. The port spills directly into the main pedestrian street. Drop your bags and start walking up β everything in Chora is within 5 minutes.

Castro of Antiparos
The 15th-century Venetian castro built by the Loredano family β a fortified settlement where houses share their outer walls as the castle wall. Most original structures still inhabited. Walk the inner square and the four medieval gates.

Cave of Antiparos
10km south of Chora, on Agios Ioannis Hill. A vertical cave plunging 85 metres into the rock β 411 steps down. Contains the oldest known stalagmite in Europe (45 million years). Lord Byron carved his name on a wall in 1810. Open 10am-3pm in summer.
Soros Beach π beach card Β· wind & conditions β
On the way back from the cave. Long sandy crescent on the southeast coast β deeper water than most island beaches, so good for actual swimming rather than wading. A taverna or two at the back.
Sunset β Sifneiko CafΓ©
Behind the main town on Sifneikos Gialos. The west-facing cove gets the best sunsets on the island. Order a drink and stay for dinner β the food is decent if you can grab a table.
Despotiko & the South Beaches
Agios Georgios
Tiny resort village 12km south of Chora β a handful of tavernas on the waterfront and the small boat harbour for crossings to Despotiko. The beach itself is fine but you're really here for the boat.
Despotiko Sanctuary of Apollo
Uninhabited island a 15-minute boat ride from Agios Georgios. Major Archaic-era sanctuary of Apollo dating to the 7th century BC, still actively excavated. Marble columns and reconstructed temple walls in extraordinary isolation. Boats run hourly in summer.
Livadi Beach (Despotiko)
Silver-white sand beach on Despotiko, just south of the sanctuary. No facilities, no shade β bring water and a hat. The water clarity is among the best in the Cyclades. The boat back leaves at 4pm.
Antiparos Port β Ferry to Paros
Drive back from Agios Georgios to the port (about 20 minutes). Catch the small ferry to Pounta on Paros β they run every 30 minutes β then onwards to Parikia or the airport.
Planning questions
Is 2 days enough for Antiparos?
Yes, for a first visit. The plan covers the essentials at a pace that leaves time in the water. With one more day, add a slow beach day with no driving.
Do I need a car on Antiparos?
It helps for a day or two, but the core of this plan works with the bus, taxis and boats.
Where should I stay on Antiparos?
The plan sleeps in Antiparos Town.
