a Sunday around 20 July
A re-enactment of threshing the old way on Gourna beach (20 July in 2025, 9 pm), followed by a Lerian glendi with mezedes and free wine. Small and local; good if you are on the island that week.
16–17 July
The patron feast of Leros' capital: on the evening of 16 July the metropolitan leads a grand vespers at the 1933 church, then the icon is carried through the lanes down to the harbour with the municipal band, and the party continues in the cafes along the waterfront; liturgy and a reception with local sweets on the 17th. Stay in Agia Marina or Platanos so you can walk.
26–27 July
The Agios Panteleimon feast on Leros is at Patelo, above Lakki, with a traditional glendi on the central square on the evening of the 26th: local orchestra, free wine, dancing. Organised with the municipality, so it is well set up with tables.
a Saturday in late August
The municipality's wine festival is a proper panigiri on the basketball court of Drymonas, the hamlet on the west coast road (23 August in 2025, from 9 pm): traditional orchestra, Lerian dishes and free wine. It is the biggest of a run of free summer feasts the Dimos Lerou runs each year; check the programme in July.
14–15 August
Leros' most photogenic chapel, wedged between the rocks 800 m along the coast track from Xirokampos beach, where a fisherman found the icon among crabs (kavouria). It is kept on 15 August with a liturgy and blessing at the chapel and a small feast in Xirokampos afterwards. Walk along the shore from the beach; there is no parking at the chapel.
first Saturday of September
At the fishing shelter of Panteli, the prettiest harbour on Leros, the municipality closes the summer with a fish night (6 September in 2025, 7.30 pm): free fried fish mezedes and wine, music and dancing on the quay. Go early to get a seat on the wall.
Dates are resolved for 2027: fixed saint's days as they fall, movable feasts computed from Orthodox Easter (2027: 2 May). Panigiria are usually held on the eve of the saint's day, and a village occasionally shifts one to the nearest weekend — where an entry says "confirm locally", the date comes from recent years' announcements rather than an official calendar.
