DESCRIPTION:The biggest event on Salamina: the 16th-century monastery of Faneromeni on the north-west coast\, opposite Megara\, keeps the Apodosis of the Dormition on 23 August with a vigil on the 22nd\, a procession of the miraculous icon and tens of thousands of pilgrims\, many of whom walk through the night from Paloukia\; a fair with stalls and food lines the road to the monastery.
