DESCRIPTION:At the chapel of St John in the rural settlement of Thermastis\, 7 km from the port\, the church committee marks the Beheading of the Forerunner with liturgy\, refreshments and\, in the evening\, souvlaki\, mezedes and a live traditional band in the chapel square. The fireworks-and-Easter-decoration team (PKF) also uses the same chapel for a fundraising panigiri a couple of weeks earlier (17 August in 2025). The chapel of Pantokratoras at the Platys Gialos–Chrysopigi junction celebrates the same night and is the easy-access alternative.
