DESCRIPTION:The feast Leipsoi is known for\, on the ninth day of the Dormition: the icon of Panagia tou Charou (the Virgin holding the crucified Christ) is famous for the dried lilies placed on it on 25 March that bud again in August. On 22 August at 6 pm the icon is carried in procession from the cathedral with the band and the whole island\, and the municipality hands out grapes\, sweets\, mastic-and-anise bread and local meat over three days of music.
