25 April
The longest of the litanies, commemorating the 1630 plague, takes the saint's body right around the old town on Palm Sunday morning with all eighteen or so philharmonic bands of the island playing; it is the start of Corfu's famous Easter week, which continues with the Holy Saturday litany and the pot-throwing. Come at 11am and stand near the Spianada to hear the bands cross.
1 May
At exactly 11am on Holy Saturday, signaling the First Resurrection, residents throw large clay water-filled pots from their balconies onto Liston Square below. The crash of thousands of pots, accompanied by philharmonic bands, is meant to drive away evil. Adopted from the Venetians. Arrive by 9am for a viewing spot.
16–17 July
Benitses celebrates Agia Marina over two nights, 16 and 17 July, with a litany of the icon through the village and live traditional music on the harbour square, food from the local associations and dancing. Agia Marina is also kept in Spartera, Avliotes and Karousades the same night if you are in the north.
19–20 July
Magoulades, in the hills of the north-west behind Arillas, is the Corfu village that celebrates Profitis Ilias, with vespers on the 19th and a panigiri in the square with a Corfiot orchestra and tables of food; Perithia, Dragotina and Kalafationes also keep the day. It is a genuine inland village night, ten minutes from the Arillas and Agios Stefanos beaches.
25–27 July
The resort village of Ypsos keeps a real three-day panigiri around its church of Agia Paraskevi: vespers at 8pm on the 25th, liturgy with artoklasia on the 26th and a supplication at 7:30pm, and each night a big open-air dining area behind the church with the Faiakes orchestra playing Corfiot and Greek dance music. Free entry, pay for food and drink; it is on the main coast road so buses from town run late.
a Saturday or Sunday evening in the first half of August
Since 1997 the Lakones cultural society has staged the arrival of Odysseus on the island of the Phaeacians in the bay of Paleokastritsa: decorated boats and floating stages, divers, dancers, philharmonic bands and a big fireworks finale, from about 8:45pm. Dates vary — 4 August in 2024, 12 August in 2023, 13 August in 2022 — so check kerkyrasimera in July; the road down to the bay closes early, park at Lakones and walk down.
5–10 August · Pantokrator summit / Strinilas
From 1 to 6 August pilgrims climb to the monastery on the 906 m summit of Pantokrator for the six days of the Transfiguration, sleeping in the cells and celebrating the liturgy at dawn on the 6th; the villages below — Strinilas, Perivoli, Spartylas, Palaiochori in Lefkimmi, Agios Matthaios — hold their own panigiria on the evening of the 5th or 6th. Strinilas, the last village before the summit road, is the one with tavernas and music.
10–11 August
One of four annual processions of the relics of Saint Spyridon, patron of Corfu. The casket is carried through the old town accompanied by all three philharmonic orchestras. The August one commemorates deliverance from a 1716 Ottoman siege.
14–15 August
The village above the Loggas cliffs runs a two-night panigiri on 14 and 15 August organised by the local football club, with well-known Corfiot folk musicians (the Skolarikis family in 2025) and dancing in the square; food and wine from the club. Combine with sunset at Loggas beach, then walk up; parking in the village is tight.
16–18 August
Kato Garouna, above Agios Gordios on the west coast, is famous on Corfu for its musicians ('Ta paidia ap' to Garouna') and throws a three-day panigiri from 16 August with its own players, long tables of pastitsada and sofrito and dancing every night; the village also does a wine festival on a Saturday at the very end of August. Twenty minutes from town; go on the first night, which is the most local.
22–23 August
The Odigitria on 23 August (the leave-taking of the Dormition) is a second 15 August for a string of Corfu villages: Gastouri, below the Achilleion, holds vespers on the 22nd and a panigiri in the square with an orchestra and food, and Pelekas, Agioi Deka, Liapades and Pentati do the same. Good option if you missed the mid-August crowds.
early September (3–8 Sep)
The big village behind Agios Gordios, home of the Corfu folklore museum, holds its traditional panigiri in early September with the Garouna musicians and Angelos Skolarikis, food and dancing in the square. Sources disagree on the day — the Nativity of the Virgin on 8 September in the island calendars, 3 September in the 2026 municipal listing — so check corfuland the week before.
a Saturday in the second half of September
Ano Korakiana, the musical village under Pantokrator with its own philharmonic, closes its summer with a wine festival on a Saturday in mid-to-late September: new wine from the village producers, sausages and pies, and the philharmonic and a folk orchestra playing in the square. 21 September in 2024, around 13 September in 2025; similar September wine nights happen in Arillas (early Sept) and Kassiopi harbour.
first Sunday of November
On the first Sunday of November the saint's body is carried through the old town for the 1673 deliverance from plague, with the philharmonic bands and the town in its Sunday best; it is the quietest of the four litanies and the one Corfiots themselves love most, with the shops of the Liston open and the first koumkouat liqueur of winter poured. The morning route is the same as in August; the bands start about 11am.
Dates are resolved for 2027: fixed saint's days as they fall, movable feasts computed from Orthodox Easter (2027: 2 May). Panigiria are usually held on the eve of the saint's day, and a village occasionally shifts one to the nearest weekend — where an entry says "confirm locally", the date comes from recent years' announcements rather than an official calendar.
