Panigiri of Panagia (nine-day), Arki
22–23 August
Arki, with its 40-odd inhabitants, has one feast a year worth crossing for: the ninth day of the Dormition on 23 August, when boats from Patmos and Lipsi bring people for the vespers at the Panagia church and a feast of fish and goat by the sea, with music and dancing by the harbour. Get there and back on a caique from Patmos or Lipsi the same day, or stay in one of the few rooms.
